Plan To Bloom

It’s the New Year and we’re off and running. Did you think of a few things you wanted to work on this year? Did you start the year off on the right foot or have you found that it was hard to implement changes and stay motivated? (Or maybe you didn’t even get a chance to think about goals and vision cast.)

First off let me say…give yourself grace. Change can be hard because it is new. No one is perfect nor will they reach their goals without some difficulty. Be gentle on yourself…but

DON’T GIVE UP!

Start now or start over…It’s never too late and you can begin reaching your goals whenever you want to.

We’re moving on to step 2: Planning

The only way to reach a goal is to have a plan!

Now before you run off and make a plan, you need to know yourself first.

.

Are you a big stepper, an all or nothing kind of a person? You jump in with both feet charging forward with all you have. If you are, then be sure to make a plan that can offer you that.

For me, I’m a baby-stepper. I like to make what I call one percent goals. I take small steps of growth rather than 100% goals because I feel so overwhelmed and often times fail.

How does this one percent goal work? Well, let’s say I want to declutter and organize my home? I will start with one closet and I will spend 15 minutes each day decluttering. Within a few days, that closet will be decluttered and organized. I’m now one step closer to my goal rather than feeling overwhelmed at decluttering my entire home all at once. I’ll make a plan and continue on to my next closet or room. Within a few months...I will reach my goal.

If I wanted to start eating healthy, I might make one small change such as cutting out sugar. After a couple of weeks, I’ll make another small change. Before I know it, I’ve implemented so many healthy changes I’m eating healthier than ever before.

So, what I want you to do now is draw up a plan for one of your goals you want to reach. Remember that vision you casted? Let’s aim to reach it.

Also, don’t feel that you can’t follow something someone else is doing. Put a little research into it. Google your vision or join a group or a class that will help you get to where you want to go. There are so many great ideas and tips out there. You can take what you like and make it your own.

If you make one little change, a one percent goal, you’ll be that much closer to your vision than if you do nothing at all.

And do you know what the Lord has to say about making plans? Actually, He has a lot to say about it and encourages us to not just sit back and wait on the couch for Him to work in your life. Here are a few of my favorite verses about planning, but I urge you to find more for yourself.

“But the noble make noble plans, and by noble deeds they stand.” Isaiah 32:8

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3

“May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” Psalm 20:4

“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” Luke 14:28

So, whether you're a big stepper or a baby stepper, now’s the time to take your vision and plan to bloom.
