Trust in the Lord

As we continue on learning how we can shine for Jesus, I want to share with you another way you can shine.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

    and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.

Let’s turn our focus on the part that says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

One way we can shine for our Father in Heaven is by trusting him. Do you know what trust is?

Definition of trust; Firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something (online oxford dictionary).

So if I decide I want to sit on a chair, I’m trusting (I believe the chair will have the ability and strength to) it will hold me. And most of the time a chair will hold us. We don’t even think about it.

Now sometimes it’s easy to trust. Especially when we can see what we’re trusting. Like when God promised to see a rainbow and we see it, we can trust his promise to never flood the earth again. Right?

But sometimes it’s hard to trust… especially when we can’t see it or feel it or we don’t understand it.

Like when God asks us to trust every word of the Bible is true and we don’t understand it. Or when someone we love is suffering, whether it’s due to sickness, heartbreak, or sin… and we don’t understand why a good God allows that stuff to happen. Or we struggle trusting when we feel Him call us to do something we don’t 100% understand.

The above verse states we are … to trust God, and not lean on our own understanding…to trust with all our hearts. And believe me, there are things that we don’t even understand and God calls us to trust Him. We’re not meant to understand everything or we wouldn’t need Jesus!!

So, we choose to trust~

that every word of the Bible is true (even when we don’t understand it all).

So we choose to trust~

when we or that loved one is suffering. We pray and trust Gods got them and that there is a reason.

So we choose to trust~

to do something He calls us to when we don’t quite get it. We do it anyway… because we trust Him.

Do you hear how I’m saying choose? We choose it. It’s a choice we get to make…you and me. We can choose to trust or not.

God’s Word promises us that His plans and thoughts He has for us are for good, not for evil…to give us a future and hope. Jeremiah. 29:11

And do you know what God says about His promises? For no matter how many promises God has made, they are YES! In Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:20

Trust is a choice and God tells us to trust Him and obey Him and He will make our paths straight. That is our job, to trust… He does the rest, and that’s how we can shine for Him. Trust Him and you will shine like no-body else’s business!
