3 Health Tips!

Hey beautiful bloomer!

If you missed joining us in person this past week at our monthly healthy journey meeting, I want to let you know that we really missed you!! You are wanted, loved and I hope you can join us next month, February 19th at 10:00 am at the Bethel-Tulpehocken Public Library! Mark your calendar!

I also wanted to send out a few of my most favorite tips when it comes to our health journey that we talked about at our last meeting.

1. Do something!! Anything!

When we start off on something new, sometimes we either become overwhelmed or we fail a couple of times and then, we quit. But, what if we start with small baby steps? What if we just do something so we don’t feel overwhelmed and it’s easy enough, we don’t quit.

Maybe it’s putting your exercise clothes on first thing in the morning. Or maybe it’s just cutting out sugar, or maybe it’s making a healthy breakfast. Do something—no matter how small. Then, you’ll probably praise yourself when you do it and that small action will motivate you to do a little more and keep on keeping on!

In the honor of Martin Luther King day, remember:

“If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” MLK JR.

2. If you fall, get back up… right away.

The truth is, we are all going to fail at some point. And when it comes to health and eating, it’s become okay to drop one egg, so we throw down the entire egg carton. We mess up in the morning, so we throw the entire day out the window and eat all the stuff. We’ll eat the entire bag of potato chips or half the pan of brownies. We already failed. So why not?

The key is getting back up. And don’t wait until the beginning of the week, month or year. Do it now. With Trim Healthy Mama, we learn our body will burn all our fuel within 3 hours. So start over right then, at that three hour mark. Don’t wait. I’ve done Trim Healthy Mama for 10 years, but not perfectly. I’ve fallen off and made mistakes more times than I can count. But getting right back on is what has made me successful.

3. Delayed gratification for the greater good.

So many of us live a life of instant gratification. We want what we want when we want it. And when it comes to our health journey, we desire to see results right away (and when we don’t, we stop). Our preference as people is usually instant gratification.

But here’s the thing… successful people are those willing to delay gratifications and make sacrifices in the short term. (They delay their gratifications for the greater good.) These people can then enjoy greater rewards in the long term. Unsuccessful people are usually quick to give into immediate gratifications without thinking about the long term.

Also, it’s important to know why you’re going where you are going. And know how to get there. This will help you keep a big-picture perspective in mind which helps to delay those “I want it now” gratifications.

“The road less traveled is the road of delayed gratification. If you’re willing to wait for the rewards, you’ll face less competition and often get a bigger pay off.” James Clear~ Atomic Habits

I hope you’ll join us next time!!

With lots of blooming love,

Kellee
