You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put into its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

Let’s learn about another way we can brightly SHINE for Jesus! And remember, the cool thing is, if you have Jesus in you…you are already shining!! But, lets just see how bright we can shine even more!!

Have you ever had a no good, down in the dumps, rotten day? You know the day where everything goes wrong. Maybe you woke up late, you had plans and now you are running to catch-up, catch the bus, or make it to work…maybe the dog really did eat your papers. Or maybe you stepped in a huge puddle and your feet got all wet. And then you lost your lunch (or maybe the dog ate it). And then your friend didn’t have time for you and you felt left out. To top it off, you found out there was no dessert after supper… You know those kind of days?

We all have them. But there is a little something something that I want to share you that will help you not only on those hard days, but everyday. Plus, it will help you shine so very bright.

One of my favorite sayings is~

“If you look for the good, you will find it, if you look for the bad, you will find it.”

There is a lot of truth to this and it comes from the Bible in the book of Proverbs 11:27.

If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you!”

The thing is, what ever you focus on, you find. Where you look, you will go. It’s a choice you get to choose. If you look for the good you WILL find it!!

What if on that same no good, down in the dumps, rotten day, you found out you got a small promotion, you met a new friend, and this new friend made shared her snack with you, and then you found out your dog is having puppies (no wonder she’s eating everything). That doesn’t sound like such a horrible day, right?

The key to looking for the good is looking for things you can be grateful for. This kind of thinking is what I call the attitude of gratitude. Looking for the good is looking for ways to be thankful and grateful for what we do have. And that kind of attitude will be life changing. It will make you bright and shiny.

Being thankful is what God tells us to do all throughout His word. A a matter of fact, He says being grateful is His will.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

And when we’re grateful people, we are looking for the good and that positivity will shine through us.

“With gratitude, optimism is sustainable.” Michael J Fox

Something happens when we become people who look for the good. People are drawn to grateful those who have attitude of gratitude. We like to be around positive people . Don’t you? And as they come close to you, they might ask you what makes you so bright and shiny. This gives you an opportunity to share all about the One who is in you that makes you so glow so bright.

So let’s make this year about looking for the good! The good in Him! His goodness! And let’s shine like no-body else’s business!!
