“But Mary treasured all these things in her heart and thought about them often.” Luke 2:19

“Where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.” Matthew 6:21

Our next girl of the bible we’re going to talk about is Mary.

You might all know the story of Mary...

God sent the angel, Gabriel, to visit Mary. See, Mary was engaged to Joseph and he was a descendant of King David.

Gabriel says to Mary, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!”

Mary was very confused and tried to figure out what the angel was saying.

So, the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. You are going to conceive and have a baby son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. He will reign over Israel forever; His kingdom will never end.”

And do you know how Mary responded? She said “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you said come true.”

I love seeing Mary’s faith here. She said Yes. She was very brave to say Yes to God, and she said it right away. Sometimes it’s hard for me to say yes right away like that. To be obedient like that even when I don’t understand.

Mary even started singing a song of Praise to God.

You may know the rest of the story...

Joseph wasn’t quite okay with this, until an angel visited him too, but after that, he was okay with it.

Then Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem because of the census. (That year everyone had to return to the town they were born in so they could be counted.)

Mary was super pregnant and made the journey on a donkey.

When they got to Bethlehem, everything was full and the town was crowded because of the census. Mary was about to have her baby and Joseph could only find a stable for them to stay at.

That night, Mary gave birth to our Lord, Jesus. This is my favorite part of the whole bible because... LOVE CAME DOWN!

Shepherds were in the fields nearby and all of a sudden, an angel of the Lord appeared to them. They were so scared, but the angel said, “Don’t be afraid! I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people! The Savior, the Messiah, the Lord has been born today in Bethlehem. You will recognize him by this sign. You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

And then other Angels joined in... the armies of heaven... praising God!

So, the shepherds decided to go and see this baby. And when they did, they told Mary, Joseph, (well, everyone) what had happened. Everyone was amazed! “But Mary treasured all these things in her heart and thought about them often.”

That must have been a crazy, scary, wonderful, amazing time. But, do you know what Mary treasured? She treasured Jesus! And all that God had done through her and in her life... because she said yes! And because she said yes... LOVE CAME DOWN!

Blooming Challenge: Let’s be Yes girls for God. And let’s treasure Him above all, because where our treasure is, there our hearts will be.

My Christmas wish for you is to have hearts for Jesus. To be brave & courageous for Him. And to say YES! Even when we don’t fully get it.

Because ~ LOVE CAME DOWN!

Go read Luke chapter 2 for the Christmas Story... because it's true~every word!
