I have a little secret to share!! If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I’m a lover of health; whole body, mind, and soul care! Today, I want to share something with you that is so simple, can easily be incorporated into your diet, and brings health and life!!
I want to introduce you to one of my most favorite health foods that I love to utilize for optimal whole body health.
Welcome to the blog: BAOBAB
Baobab is one of my favorite super foods and something that I use every day!
Baobab is a natural powder that comes from the fruit of an African baobab tree. The baobab tree is known in Africa as the “tree of life”. I was introduced to this lovely stuff by Trim Healthy Mama (check them out) a few years back.
“And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” Genesis 2:9
The baobab tree produces a beautiful fruit pod. When this pod is left on the trees, the fruit inside the pod dries into a powder. When the fruit is opened, the natural powder inside can be added to your food or drinks to superfood it. I love that it is all natural, organic, and comes straight from the tree with no processing and no need to add anything like a preservative. It has a shelf life of 3 years.

This powder is absolutely delicious and has a bit of a citrus flavor.
This fruit powder contains quite a powerful punch. A single serving, which is considered 2-4 tsp, has a ton of nutritional benefits for our bodies, skin, brain, and energy. Let me tell you just a few of the reasons this little food literally contains life!!
It’s rich in tons of vitamins and minerals, so it’s like a natural multivitamin.
Baobab has 10 times the amount of Vitamin C than an orange… making this fruit one of the highest Vitamin C carriers. (One serving contains 33% of your daily requirement for Vitamin C.*) Because it is all natural, your body can absorb it easier than a supplement.
o And with the cold season upon us and that coronavirus going around, this is the perfect piece of health to have on hand. I have my children utilize it daily.
o Also, Vitamin C is such a big helper in weight loss. People who are lacking Vitamin C have a harder time losing weight.
Baobab has double the amount of calcium than milk.
Baobab is loaded with magnesium and potassium.
Baobab is super high in fiber (so, if you need more fiber, than this will be a food for you). This also helps with the feeling of fullness and can aid in weight loss. (And, if you’re into probiotics, baobab is a great pre-biotic because of the soluble fiber.*)
Baobab is the highest antioxidant food in all the world. It has more than the acacia berry, blueberries, and pomegranates.
Baobab is also a helper in stabilizing blood sugars, which also helps with weight loss.
I know sometimes it’s hard to get in your veggies, but this little baby can help you with that. Baobab is great for kids who won’t eat their vegetables. Did you know that meat contains all the nutrients you need except Vitamin C? Well well well….
This little powder is so easy to incorporate into your diet.
All you need is 2-4 tsp a day of Baobab. But, if you take more, it won’t hurt you. The left over Vitamin C that your body doesn’t need is excreted in the urine. (Because Baobab is so high in fiber, you might want to start with a low dose and increase a little bit each day to allow your body to get used to it.)
You can easily add it to your water or a smoothie. Your morning oatmeal will love it. My favorite way to drink it is in my favorite concoction called the kick it up Kell. (If you want to learn about all the amazing benefits of the other ingredients in this drink, click here… https://kellee5.wixsite.com/website/single-post/2018/02/03/kick-it-up-kell)
Kick it up Kell
In a quart jar place
1-3 tbsp apple cider vinegar (choose the kind with the mother)
1 tbsp lemon juice
3 tsp baobab
¼ tsp turmeric
Sweetener of choice (I use stevia, but honey is divine in this)
Mix well, add water and ice. Drink away. This drink provides so much goodness!!

Baobab can be found at health stores and occasionally at Walmart in the grocery section where they keep their healthy powders. You can order it on-line and you can also find it at trim healthy mama. https://store.trimhealthymama.com/product/baobab-boost-powder-11oz-bag/
(If you live around my parts you can find it at Sunny Cupboard, Echo Hill or Masts Bulk Foods.)

Blooming Challenge: Do something for your physical health today! Drink more water (even if you don’t have baobab to put in it). I encourage you to do something for you and your body this week!
“She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.” Proverbs 3:18
